Minutes of Meeting—Feb 12th 2006 Call to Order President Antonio Rosales called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. at Round Table Pizza on Marlow Road. Teams Present Present: Black Oaks, Bushwhackers, Empire F.C., Forestville Kixx, Forestville United, Habaneros, Just For Fun, Maximum Force, Outer Limits, Outsiders, Shockers, Sonoma United, New Team Approval of Minutes The January minutes were reviewed and approved. Reports of Officers and Committees Antonio Rosales, President: Did a quick count of teams. We currently have 14 teams. Trying to get another all-weather field that the league can use. Invited Alex (from the Black Oaks) to speak about the “For Pete’s Sake” field. Alex talked about the organization and expressed their desire to establish a long-term relationship with SCACSL. (The field is mainly used by Rugby players. Rugby games are played on Saturdays and run through early-mid March.) Interested in maybe hosting tournaments there that could raise funds for further development of the field and surrounding area (memorial, clubhouse). The organization currently has a relationship with the city, who mows the field. Field users must rake the cut grass before playing. Field has rugby posts but no goals currently. Suggested that perhaps the league could provide volunteer labor in exchange for field use, rather than paying a usage fee. Encouraged folks to attend their next meeting, March 8th at Bertolone Realty on 4th Street. 217-3089 (Meeting are the second Weds of every month.) President Antonio Rosales to attend. Brian Aicega, Vice President: Purchased two field lining machines and all the paint. Sue Zaharoff, Treasurer: Absent. Brian Peddinghaus, Ref Coordinator: Could still use help in getting more refs. Has 5 or 6 now. Dave Wilson offered to supply him with some names. Field Coordinators: Brian Peddinghaus, Lucchessi and Wiseman: Reserved Lucchessi (1 field) and Wiseman (2 fields) for first two weekends of season (March 18th and 25th) Both reserved from 10-4 both weekends. That’s enough time for three 80-minute games on each field. (May need less time at Wiseman.) Brian to get info from Lucchessi and give to treasurer so she can write out a check. (Lucchessi has their own nets.) Dave Wilson, Galvin: City of SR will not take reservations until March 1st. Dave to contact them on that day to reserve Galvin fields for the season. Antonio Rosales, Sunrise: Sunrise available April 1st. Has permission to use field through June. Sue Zaharoff, Forestville: Absent. Luis Medina, Webmaster: Absent. Luis Medina, Game Scheduler: Absent. Old Business A motion was made to reserve 2 more hours at Lucchessi the first weekend (8-4) so that every team has the chance to play there once. (That will mean 4 games at Lucchessi the first weekend and 3 the next. That leaves 3 games at Wiseman the first weekend and 4 the next.) The motion also stated that the games would be 40-min halves in order to fit all the playing in. Motion approved unanimously. Antonio went to the women’s outdoor league meeting and they agreed to mark Galvin and Forestville the first weekend in April. We will then alternate weekends with them. Antonio to ask them to make sure the fields have been mowed before they mark them, and to mark them on Friday if possible. New Business A discussion on how best to handle the marking of the fields was held. Rolf suggested that maybe we could get a lock box at Galvin and at Forestville and permanently house one liner at each field. Many felt that permission to place such a box at the fields would be hard to get. It was decided for now that the first team scheduled to play at each field (the 9:00 AM game) will have to mark the field (every other weekend). The team managers will be responsible for getting the marking equipment to the team that needs it two weeks later. Kixx volunteered to mark the Forestville field every two weeks in exchange for the first game of the day. Scheduler to be asked to give Kixx the 9:00 AM slot every other week at Forestville (April 8th, 22d, etc.) Maximum Force may offer to do the same at Galvin. TBD. (Game times will be 9:00, 11:00, and 1:00.) Antonio reported that he cannot confirm use of the SSU fields for the May 6th tourney because the fields were torn up by the Eagles concert a few months ago and are yet to be repaired. Looking at alternatives in case we cannot get the fields. (Maybe Pete’s Sake field plus two Comstock fields.) Brian Peddinghaus expressed interest in doing a Fall league again. Others stated that there is a problem with field availability in the Fall due to youth teams using them. Debbie Wilson brought up the fact that there is a Fall night league in Windsor that may be interested in have some of our teams join. She is to look into it. Many teams expressed interest in joining. They play on Weds nights in Windsor. Registration: Dave Wilson said that he is still accepting reg forms. You can leave them in a box on his front porch. 1138 Kidd Road, Windsor. (Managers must submit a form for each player. In addition, they must submit a copy of a driver’s license and a 1.5” x 1.5” photo of each new player. Returning players can just submit their old cards.) Dave’s number: 838-7770 (H) and 543-3444 (fax). League has reserved the room for the whole year at Round Table. Meetings are always the first Sunday of each month (unless there’s a holiday, then the second Sunday). We need to spend about $50/meeting on food and beverages. Meeting Adjourned at 7:25 p.m. Next scheduled meeting: Sunday March 5th at the Round Table Pizza on Marlow (at Guerneville Road, in the Safeway shopping center) at 6:30 p.m. Submitted by Sarah Martin 14 Feb 2006
