Minutes of Meeting—July 1st 2007 Call to Order President Antonio Rosales called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m. at Round Table Pizza on Marlow Road. Teams Present Present: Black Oaks, Forestville United, Habaneros, Renegades, NorCal F.C., Outer Limits, Outsiders, Shockers, Sonoma United, Millwall Approval of Minutes The June minutes were reviewed and approved. Reports of Officers and Committees Antonio Rosales, President: Has receipts to turn in to Treasurer for drinks and ice purchased for Kick Around (about $150). A team the Shockers played on June 16th did not cancel and did not have enough players to play. Fall League: will play at 9, 11, and 1 at Sunrise. Over 30. Six teams so far are signed up (Shockers, Yellow Jackets, Norcal, Outer Limits, Sonoma United, Millwall). Separate bank account for fall league. Fee will be $350 for 10 games. Joe Verdu, Vice-President: Good season. Ref coordinator did a good job. Refs showed up, altho refs could use a rules refresher. Some are too strict, some too loose. Found tonight’s pizza topping combo of pepperoni and olives delightful. Brian Aicega, Treasurer: Balance of $7,953.85, but still have to pay for remaining ref fees and some fields. There are 6-7 red card fees that have yet to be paid. Asked that ref coordinator remind refs to turn in game cards in order to get paid. Luis Medina, Webmaster: Asked managers to please e-mail him with the results of their games. Still missing some scores. Just say who won/lost. He doesn’t really care about the score. Hector Roman, Referee Coordinator: Absent. Nothing to report. Dave Wilson, Registrar: Good year. Old Business Brian Aicega again brought up the idea of having league nets that are shared by teams and rotated. The women’s league bought nets, cones, flags. They rotate them. It was decided to table the idea until the first meeting for next year. Will vote on it. See how the finances are. Estimates for nets are $60 new. Someone suggested that teams could donate their nets. So league would buy bags for nets, flags, cones. New Business Refs will be paid $50/game for Kick Around. Two games for Susan, three for Miguel. Approved by vote of 10-0. It was decided that a Rules Committee should be formed to address some of the larger questions that have faced the league this year (can we do an open division or does that require a ballot vote?). The following people volunteered to serve on the committee: Rolf Stevens, Antonio Rosales, Margie Brady-Long, Brian Aicega, Joe Verdu, Luis Medina. They will meet every other month. Anyone is welcome to join. Asked Luis to put on website that anyone who wants to serve should attend the meetings. First meeting will be December 2d at 6:30 at Round Table Pizza. (I reserved the room.) It was decided that next year at the beginning of the season, the ref coordinator will meet with all the refs and go over the rules and what we want from them. Hopefully this will mean that we have less variety in styles of refereeing. Meeting will be in February. Ref coordinator will receive $50 from league funds for pizza for refs (to reserve the room). Approved by vote of 10-0. It was decided that the first meeting of the next season will be in January, not December. (Just the Rules Committee will meet in December.) Managers should come ready to elect officers in January. Things to vote on next year: Money for Lucchessi field, running season straight through with no break except Memorial Day so season can wrap up by June 30th, should we have an open division, do we need to do a ballot to make that change, buy league nets? Meeting Adjourned at 7:35 p.m. Next scheduled meeting: Sunday December 2d at the Round Table Pizza on Marlow (at Guerneville Road, in the Safeway shopping center) at 6:30 p.m. This is for the Rules Committee only. Anyone is welcome to join the committee by showing up. Submitted by Sarah Martin 29 October 2007
